Considerations for hiring a cleaning company.

When it comes to running a business you quickly realise that you can’t do everything.  Which means that you either have to hire people, or outsource certain tasks to ensure that the right people’s skills are being used in the right way.

 

When you think about outsourcing tasks you don’t want to do, can’t do, or simply don’t have the time for, you might well think about HR, accounting or even social media.  But what about cleaning? 

 

Making sure your business premises are up to scratch, all the time is essential.  You could argue it’s not a big deal, no customers ever come and visit you, but what about your staff?  Your staff are vitally important to the running of your business, and you want them to be proud of where they work, and to be an in environment where they’re always reminded that you care about their health and wellbeing.  It’s hard to do that if they’re working in a dirty or untidy office space.

 

As with outsourcing anything, it’s important to make sure that you have the right people for the job, but how do you do that?  Here are our top tips when it comes to looking for commercial cleaning assistance.

 

Experience

The first thing you’re going to want to know is if the people or company you’re thinking of hiring has any experience doing the job you need completing.  They might not have commercial experience, but do they have plenty of domestic experience?  Is there a big difference between the two?  Is it as simple as if you can deliver one, you can deliver the other? 

 

Our extra tip here is make sure they still have enthusiasm for what they’re doing.  Experience is great, but if they’ve lost interest in doing a good job, it’s not going to count for anything!

 

What standards can you expect?

You might have found someone that’s offered a significantly cheaper quote than everyone else.  That’s great.  We understand you have budgets, and you want to reduce your spend where possible. However, stop and think about what you’re getting for that spend.  Will they be able to deliver to the standard you want with the money you’re prepared to spend?  If not, then it’s worth spending a little bit more money to ensure you get the result you want.

 

What work environment do you want to create?

It might seem like a crazy thing to consider, but bear with us.  What do you want people to think of when they enter your premises?  How do you want your staff to feel when they come in to work?  How your building looks will say a lot about you as an employer, or as a provider of products/services.

 

Taking the time to ensure that your driveway is clean and free of rubbish, your windows are regularly washed, your cladding is spotless, and the bins are emptied daily shows that you pay attention to detail.  That you care about the small things that other people might be prepared to ignore.

 

These things all help to create a positive impression of you, your staff and your business.
